Knee arthroscopy
Anyone had one? Had my cartlidge repaired and some bone smoothen out under knee cap. The knee is really swollen didn't think it would be so bad after minor key hole surgery. Anyone got any experience of this and how long before back to normal mobility in the knee?

Re: Knee arthroscopy
I had it done at the Nuffield in Brentwood about 20 years ago. I was climbing trees again within no time. But there again I'm tough.

Re: Knee arthroscopy
I've had three.

I played squash for 10 years after the last one.

I had a few breathers though.

Re: Knee arthroscopy
Yep had it when I was 15 after playing football and pulling a Gazza.

I like to blame it for my subsequent years of fat cuntery.

It wasn't. It was greed.

Re: Knee arthroscopy
had three over a two week stay at Oldchurch hospital due to a septic infection in my knee. Procedure is not painful and fairly unintrusive......septic infection on the other hand is a cunt and nearly lost half my leg!!!

Re: Knee arthroscopy
If it was done at the Nuffield back in the day it was probably Lang-Stevenson that performed.

Re: Knee arthroscopy
What did the doc advise, crutches and no driving for two seeks I was told, but was at Man City next day and drove to get the Hornchurch coach. It did put me off playing squash again though.

I had one many years ago but just last week I appear to have fluid on my knee now and the Doc sent me for X-Rays yesterday, bloody agony at times at the mo :-(

Re: Knee arthroscopy
I've had 3 knee ops over many many years. Last one in 2009. Cartilage trimmed, patella scraped. Had to do physio almost as soon as I came round. Agony. Swelling is to be expected, keep it elevated if you can, flex often. I recall not being right for several weeks afterwards. Had to give up football and squash and running.

Re: Knee arthroscopy
Yes I had one 3years ago, piece of puss surgery, walked down the stairs almost immediately after. Did my physio then the problems started, first the knee swelled up and then it started hurting, a lot. Anyway 6 months after the Fucking 1st surgeon had insisted he had done a great job I switched and got a second opinion and ended up having a full knee replacement. Still have trouble with the cunting thing as well. So best of luck but I wish I had never had the first op done, oh and before you ask it was all done private and they all closed ranks after saying I was just unlucky. Anyway mate I hope your knee makes a full recovery

Re: Knee arthroscopy
Had three at different times on the same knee as well as other ops.
It's fucked now though and although I'm not in daily pain since the last cartilage repair, I can't do any real exercise without it swelling up for days.
Its really important you do the right physio and exercises after the op so push yourself to do it right.

Re: Knee arthroscopy
Had it done on my ankle, very stiff for a week with crutches, gradually got better and could run after about 6 weeks.

Re: Knee arthroscopy
Have had 3 in the last 5 years (and an ACL reconstruction). Always a bit tender after the arthroscopies but usually ok after a week or so.

Re: Knee arthroscopy
Snapped all my knee ligaments 7 years ago. Had an arthroscopy 5 years ago but surgeon couldn't find anything wrong (idiot) .

Got a 2nd opinion and he worked out what was wrong in 2 minutes.

I digress. I got signed off for 2 weeks and walked out of hospital the same day.

The lateral reconstruction and the subsequent acl recon both led to 3 months off and a year of physio for each. Had to heal from the first one to have the 2nd.

Re: Knee arthroscopy
I've had 2, no big problems and the last time I'd been in agony before the op with calcification of the joint, came round and it felt great, mind you got a bit painful again once the residual general anaesthetic wore off but was back at work a week later and it's been trouble free every since. Good luck mate!
